MEET OUR DIRCTOR MS. COOPER

I am thrilled to have this opportunity to briefly introduce myself and share my musical journey with you. My name is Kimberly Cooper, and I consider it both an honor and a privilege to lead these incredible ensembles.

My passion for music was ignited when I was a young child, and it has been the guiding force in my life ever since. I have always participated in choirs at every school and sought opportunities to push and express myself.  To further refine my skills and immerse myself in the world of choral music, I embarked on a journey to the Michigan State University’s College of Music. There, under the guidance of distinguished mentors and educators, I pursued an associate’s degree in choral conducting. I learned technique on how to be a better musician. My professors also taught me how to listen and react to the needs of the students before anything. It was a transformative experience that shaped my approach to music profoundly. Throughout all of my years being involved in music I have experiences that have allowed me to explore a vast repertoire including classical, spirituals, pop, jazz, etc. I plan to pour all of what I have learned into every student that is willing to learn and grow with me. 

I am excited to grow at BCSC and I seek every opportunity to learn from people around me of all ages. Keep an eye out for our upcoming performances and events. I am excited to lead these choirs to new heights, and I look forward to sharing the transformative power of music with all of you.
